  • Systematical practice is essential. When you are practicing, reflect on how each type of CELPIP speaking task could help your communication skills in daily life. The CELPIP Speaking Test assesses your communication skills in various daily situations, including:

  1. Giving Advice: You will be asked to advise someone. This skill is crucial when friends or coworkers seek your opinion. They will often want to know why you give certain advice, how you would handle situations, and may exchange ideas with you.

  2. Talking About a Personal Experience: This involves sharing past experiences, which is essential for storytelling about your life, family, and surroundings.

  3. Describing a Scene: This is useful when inquiring for additional information from strangers.

  4. Making Predictions: This helps you describe potential future events to your employer or coworkers.

  5. Comparing and Persuading: Use this skill to convince landlords, salespeople, friends, and employers about your decisions and validate your reasons.

  6. Dealing with a Difficult Situation: This assesses your ability to convey bad news to friends, acquaintances, or coworkers assertively yet calmly.

  7. Expressing Opinions: This is necessary for exchanging ideas with others in daily interactions.

  8. Describing an Unusual Situation: This task requires a good vocabulary and paraphrasing skills.


Get Feedback on Your Pronunciation and Fluency

  • Listenability: This is a grading criterion that assesses your rhythm, pronunciation, and pauses. You need to work on syllable stress and intonation.


Study the Different Sections of the Test

  • Format Familiarization: Learn about the format of the speaking tasks and practice speaking with different people in various situations.

  • Vocabulary: Learn vocabulary based on themes and contexts. Practice by making three sentences with each new word to reinforce learning. Additionally, look up synonyms and try to create different sentences in the same context.

  • Paraphrasing and Summarizing: These skills are helpful across all CELPIP speaking tasks.
